The DeLorean car from the ‘Back to the Future’ series of films will be produced again for the first time since 1982, with the first hopefully completed in 2017. You can buy a refurbished model for around $50,000 but the new models will be worth “less than $100,000”. DMC (The company that made the original car) went bankrupt in 1982, before ‘Back to the Future’ became a major hit in theaters, producing only 9,000 DeLoreans before this point.
“It’s fantastic. It is a game-changer for us. We’ve been wanting this to happen,” Wynne (DMC CEO) said to KPRC2.
Unfortunately this isn’t mass production though, the replica DeLoreans will be built under a low-volume manufacturing bill approved by the US federal government, around 300 overall cars will be manufactured at first, and only around 1 car a week to begin with.
